there's no point taking probiotics unless you've recently undergone a course of antibiotics.
The body has an abundant supply of 'friendly bacteria' probiotics add little to this natural defence
I personally have tried so many now it's ridiculous! In my opinion the ones that work best tend to either be the whole food tablets such as Garden of Life, or Enzymatic Therapy Acidophilus Pearls.
The issue with probiotics is that they are live bacteria and your stomach acid is made to destroy bacteria good or bad. Although some strains can make it through stomach acid better than others, most can't. If you can't find the products I'm listing then make sure it atleast has an enteric coating. These brands are quite popular though so it shouldn't be hard at all.
So in the case of Garden of Lifes whole food tablets, because they're whole food your body for one can break it down and absorb it a bit easier. They tend to be a little more active than other brands due to the fact that they are mixed with prebiotics which are the food that the probiotics feed off of. This is akin of soil to a plant.
Enzymatic Therapy Acidophilus Pearls are excellent. I'm personally going back on them after having tried about 8 different brands in the past year (I work in a health food store so I sample everything lol). They have a dual coating. The first coating is an enteric coating that allows the bacteria to bypass your stomach acid and actually reach the intestine where they can be used. Next is the oxygen encapsulation, which prevents oxidation of the bacteria so they can survive even better.
I don't know which probiotics are best. As long as they have a good active ingredient acidophilus
You can eat Stonyfield yogurt or any sugar free yogurt
also digestive enzymes and floras are good.
JARRO, google it.
They are available in the UK, Canada, US etc... In the health food refrigerated section.
Right on!
Google it to get it drop shipped... Inexpensive and it works.
acidophilus, bromelien / papaya enzymes... strawberry or blueberry acidolphilis wafers...
GNC has them. Walgreens, WalMart... all very easy to find.
I work at a health food store and people swear by Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics 12 Plus. It contains 12 strains of lactic acid bacteria plus many other vitamins and minerals. They also have a special coating so they don't dissolve in the stomach but rather in the intestines where the bacteria live. Probiotics are great for people who just got off of antibiotics and those that have digestive problems, or to be taken every day. The body does produce bacteria, but that doesn't help if you take antibiotics (which kill all bacteria, not just bad ones).
