Does it make any difference in effectivness if I buy a carrier oil from the grocery store ?!

Question: Does it make any difference in effectivness if I buy a carrier oil from the grocery store .?
I was going to start using sweet almond oil on my skin and wondered whether or not it really made a difference if I bought the oil from the grocery store (in the cooking oil section), or from a store that specialized in such things .?
Because there aren't any stores like that anywhere near, and I'm a little strapped for cash..Health Question & Answer

Sweet almond oil from the grocery won't hurt you, but I've never seen it on the cooking aisle.. It can be used like olive oil, but I don't know that anyone does..

The best oils are "cold pressed," "expeller pressed," or virgin.. If they are not so labelled, they most likely are extracted using chemicals that you don't want either in you or on you..

Here is a fairly economical source for organic, expeller pressed Almond Oil: .mountainroseherbs..com/bulkoil/a-c..php.." rel="nofollow">http://www..mountainroseherbs..com/bulkoil...... also note that Extra Virgin Olive Oil is excellent for the skin and to heal mild irritations..Health Question & Answer

Being a carrier oil, it shouldn't make much of a difference.. However, if you're looking at any other nutritional oil from the grocery store, you'll want to look at the brands carefully.. Oftentimes, if they are in the cooking aisle, they are assuming it's just for cooking and they will often use higher heat processes, which will damage much of the nutritional integrity of most oils.. In the case of healthy oils and/or essential oils, this can sometimes make the oil you're buying useless for the intended purpose..
Granted, some grocery stores also stock healthy oils (often in another section, but they might just put them all together) that are not heat treated, which is why I say you should check on the brands carefully to find out if they use high heat processing or not.. Good luck!Health Question & Answer

As long as the oil does not smell rancid then it is fine to use!Health Question & Answer
