Melatonin question- how long does it take!

Question: Melatonin question- how long does it take
Does it take a few days (nights) to work.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
There are two time-frames to mention.. It normally takes a few days to a few weeks to hit the "optimal point" with Melatonin...... the point where it has worked in your system enough where most people notice their sleep cycles are balanced out.. What I mean on that is that Melatonin helps to regulate and balance Serotonin, which means it can help to reset your internal clock when it comes to sleep.. In many cases, people find that they can fall asleep easier on their own after they have taken Melatonin for a while like that.. also, a lot of people that travel internationally on a regular basis practically live by it to help them adjust to time changes..

The other time-frame I mentioned is how long it takes on a per-time basis.. If you take it normally (as I mentioned above), it can impact your system within anywhere from 10-40 minutes typically.. If you don't take it on a regular basis, it could be anywhere from 15-60 minutes.. It's generally a good idea to take it about an hour before you want to be asleep and make sure you don't have to do anything.. Oh, and make sure to avoid sugar, caffeine, and exercise for at least 3 hours before bed for your best results falling asleep ;-) Good luck!Health Question & Answer

I take it and it works in about half an hour.. I stay asleep through the night and wake up refreshed and not groggy.. I cannot answer about the other time frame.. I only take this about once a week when I start to toss and turn.. Health Question & Answer

No.. It'll start working right away within minutes.. If you have tried it and it doesn't seem to work then increase the dosage.. But start at 1 mg because there is also a chance that too much can backfire and keep you awake..Health Question & Answer
