Nyquil provides relief from colds.. Sure it contains anti-histamines which make you fall asleep, but why not get Tylenol Simply Sleep which is pure anti-histamines (diphenhydramine, aka Benadryl).? Alcohol is high in calories (about 150 calories a beer, a little less for light beer)..

I would recommend Tylenol Simply Sleep or related product to help you sleep.. also, practice good sleep hygiene habits (no caffeine after 2 or 3pm, lay down in a dimly lit room and stay away from bright lights for an hour before you want to go to sleep, don't watch TV, read, or do finances an hour before sleep as this will stimulate your brain, also exercise earlier in the day will help a lot).. also, try having background noise in your room when you sleep (a fan, a computer playing "rain" sounds, etc)..

If you try that and are still having problems going to sleep, I would recommend the following: Ambien CR (need a prescription from your doctor, most MDs or DOs aren't too worried about giving Ambien out as it is a Schedule IV drug, which means the least addictive).. Lunestra is ok, but not as effective (for me anyways).. Restoril (a benzodiazepine) is also used, but it has never worked that well for me, and carries a greater risk of addiction than Ambien or Lunestra.. I have had a Rx of Ambien CR before, and used it when I really needed to go to sleep, and it worked great.. If you use it over time, it will become less effective and you may experience "rebound' insomnia..

Good luck with sleeping..Health Question & Answer

The beer is worse..

As for the sleep aid, you could try a tylenol pm.. Or if all you want is the drug in it that makes you sleep, then you can take a benadryl (or an equivalent with the same ingredient)..
They both contain the same drug, they just market them for different purposes..Health Question & Answer

The beer.. Niether of them really help me sleep that much, both would just make me all buzzed up..

Benadrly knocks me out, i try taking it during the day, it feels like I took a xanax bar.. Sometimes I'm out for 2 hours, i don't know how they market that stuff..
