Unfortunately, there's no way to transform your hair permanently back into curly hair--hair is straight, wavy, curly, or kinky according to your genetics, and nothing will change the way it grows out of your head..

There are things you can do, though, that will temporarily make your hair softer and, hopefully, wavier.. Chemical straightening and permanent waving can change the texture of your hair--they're pretty effective, and last about until your hair grows out (hair grows 6 inches a year--so it'll take 6 months for a 3-inch strand to grow all the way out again).. It's expensive, though, and damaging to your hair; it can make it really dry (though you can find products to help combat that).. Additionally, perming / straightening are really stinky...... your hair smells like nasty chemicals for several days afterwards.. I had my hair straightened several times and hated that..

Conditioner can help a lot, too, though, and those even smell good; I've got hair that is somewhere between kinky and wavy, and I've found Herbal Essences "None of Your Frizziness" smoothing conditioner to be pretty helpful (I used cheaper stuff, like TresEmme and Suave for a long time, but they just didn't work as well)..

Anyway, good luck with your curls.. Health Question & Answer

They have a special kind of curling shampoo now.. ;)
I'm not sure how and if it works on afro-like hair, but I used it on my naturally semi-wavy hair and it made it quite a bit curlier! I forget what brand I used though........just take a look around and see which brand of curling shampoo you think would be the best for you.. And it doesn't necessarilly keep your hair curly after one washing, you have to keep washing it with the shampoo.. I think that may be your best bet for now........
Or you could try a curling iron.. I think that would be a lot of work though..
You could also go to a salon and ask someone working there if there's anything they recommend..

Hope I helped, and good luck.. :)
