Question: Does anyone know of any home remedies to treat fluid on the knee.? ( I have no health insurance).?
Answers:
Fluid accumulation around a joint is usually the body's response to inflammation.. The most common area for fluid to accumulate is above the knee cap itself.. This is usually due to a patellar tracking dysfunction caused by an imbalance in the quadriceps muscle.. Instead of the knee cap tracking properly in its groove it moves slightly off its groove and becomes inflamed.. Other causes of fluid is infection of the joint ( have you had a small cut or scrape around the knee.?) You will also notice a lot of heat and redness with infection.. Another cause is arthritis of the knee..
If we assume that your condition is the patellar tracking problem, follow these stages of care:
1.. Reduce inflammation- Ice for 15-20 minutes with compression.. rest with leg elevated.. Avoid stairs.. Taking a OTC medication like Ibuprofen for 3-6 days..
2.. Restore normal length of the muscle surrounding the knee- STRETCH quadriceps, hamstrings, calf and especially your iliotibial band..
3.. When your pain level has diminished begin easing into strengthening the quadriceps with one legged squats.. Do Not Use a leg extension machine as this will re-aggravate the knee..Health Question & Answer

Cabbage leaves.. It's no joke (it doesn't cost you much to try)..

Remove the hard stalk and put 2 or 3 leaves on your knee.. Maintain in place with a gauze band.. Change as soon as the leaves dry out or become mushy..

Do this for a week or two..

If you have Bentonite clay, it's even better.. Moisten enough Bentonite to cover your knee about 1 cm thick.. Maintain in place with a thin cloth.. Change as soon as the Bentonite dries out.. More effective but not as practical as cabbage leaves as it's not that easy to change Bentonite clay every other hour while you're at work (or to go round with that stuff on your knee)..

Important: throw away the used Bentonite and treat it as a dirty bandage.. Never, ever re-use clay! It attracts all sorts of toxines from the body..

Hope you get better soon! All the best!

Chiropractic adjustment will help.. It's not free, but usually cheaper & more effective than what a medical doctor would do.. Ask him/her to treat you without x-rays..

Gently massage under the knee joint.. Apply poultice of comfrey root or leaf or raw potato.. Turmeric capsules help w/ pain.. Celery seed tea helps w/ pain & swelling.. Use ice packs.. Stay off your feet & elevate when you can.. Use a compression bandage when you have to be up..

Do not neglect this as it can turn into a "frozen joint" if allowed to progress..Health Question & Answer
