No it is not chemically addictive, but people with addictive personalities can become dependent on it........the same way people become dependent on eating when they get depressed..

and then there's the relatively harmless addictions like for Chocolate or marijuana.. That's mostly just a craving.. Technically you can stop any time, unlike with heroin, where if you just stop cold turkey without help, you could very well die.. If you 'just stop' marijuana, you might get a little depressed or crabby for a while while your body is clearing out the thc, but then you'll be fine..

Right, Do not listen to most of these people because theyre talking absolute s**t.. In response to one comment Cannabis has not been proved as a gate way drug and most people do not start addictions with Cannnabis but Cigarettes and alcohol (which are perfectly Legal)..

Depending on how long ur mates been smoking it and what kind of stuff hes been smoking and also how much he smokes a day really depends on whether hes addicted or not..
