Why are the MD's in hospital pushing the cancer sufferer so strongly to have a chemo.. .?
I went to hospital today with my grandpa and the doctors told him about his cancer in the stomach.. They said that an operation is unavoidable due to the blockage of food to duodenum..
Fine, he sign for the operation..
And than they started this chemo pressure.. He refused and the two MD called another doctor, and another, and all of them telling him how important is to have this chemotherapy for his gastric adenocarcinoma.. Why the pressure.? Can't the patient have his own decision any more.? Help us please.. It is really important for him..Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yes, the patient is entitled to make his/her own decision.. To make a correct decision you need to have all the available facts, and I believe that the doctor was trying to let you know all those facts.. They have to tell you of the risks of the treatment, the risks of not having the treatment and of the percentage of success/failure.. This is part of the duty to inform..

One doctor should be enough.. When that doctor needs the help of other doctors to persuade a patient, this become pressure (and even emotional blackmail) and no longer pure information.. Patients who are already weakened by the disease and confused by the bad news they just received don't need that extra pressure and should on the contrary be given time to make up their own mind..

Your grandfather has the right to decide for himself what kind of treatment he wants.. Just make sure that he has all the information and tell the doctors they have done their job to inform and have no business putting extra pressure on him and making him worse..

Wishing you and your grandpa all the best through these difficult times..Health Question & Answer

Of course he can refuse treatment, that is totally his right to decide.. You have to be aware that this cancer will probably be the cause of his death unfortunately as adenocarcinoma is aggressive and chemo, while it may not cure it, will at least slow it down and/or shrink it..
But I agree with you, people need to be allowed to make their own decisions about their own bodies.. They cant make him have the chemo but they are legally obliged to make him aware of the risks of not having it..
All the very best wishes to your family..Health Question & Answer

Unfortunately MD's are pushing cancer sufferers to have chemo because that's all they know..
If they buck the system they are out.. The best thing to do for your grandpa to see a naturopath to check his mineral and dietary intake..
Perhaps he needs to have more fruit and vegetables and also detox..
One thing I have found is fear and stress caused by the medical system only makes it worse, they always see recovery as a battle, the wrong attitude for healing..
I wish your grandpa the best, I admire you helping him be in control of his own health care options..Health Question & Answer

If you love your Grandpa don't take him to an alternative medicine man.. please.. It really is very very not good.. (top grammer)

It doesn't work and there is no evidence that it works..

My father just went through Chemo and although he found it tough kept high spirit throughout and is bright and happy that he did it..

wouldn't it be a nice world where there was a painless alternative to all complicated hospital treatment.. It's a fantasy that could cost your loved one's life

ADDED nice one.. shows people don't read answers properly.. My answers are usually a totally different tone to Darren.. we agree on a lot of points but he mocks you and thinks you're stupid, I usually try to spell out the facts because I don't believe that you should just give up and right people off.. If you could show me a treatment like homeopathy work I would believe in it.. Just show me it working in a large clinical trial.. (not meta-analysis).. If that happened I WOULD change my mind and support it

what would it take for you to change your mind.. My opinion is that nothing would change your mind.. And by the way you asked a personal question about someone you love and i gave you the best advice i could think off having gone through a horrible similar experience with someone i love.. Can you at least acknowlage that I gave well meaning advice from the heart trying to help.. I wasn't to know that you were a hardcore beleiverHealth Question & Answer

I think you are going to get the same advice from all the MD's..
Try to find a good Naturpath for advice on Alternative Medicine..Health Question & Answer

The drug companies run the world, along with the oil companies ......Cancer drugs are big money for them.. Health Question & Answer

Chemo is one of the main non-surgical weapons that an MD has to fight cancer or to at least stop tumor growth.. This is why they are trying to get your grandfather to agree to try it..

As far as natural physicians, a good naturopath can help your grandfather to get through the chemo without getting as sick and can reduce the terrible side effects of the chemo.. There are many things that a naturopath can do to support standard cancer treatment and keep your grandfather healthier and more active during the treatment, but unfortunately this treatment does not replace surgery and chemo/radiation..

If someone tells you to stop all standard cancer treatment and use only some special treatment they have, run the other way and fast.. No honest and ethical practitioner will tell you to do this..

I hope your grandfather has a full recovery..Health Question & Answer
