It's been a month since I smoked weed, and depression has kicked in, now I'm craving it more then ever, help??!

Question: It's been a month since I smoked weed, and depression has kicked in, now I'm craving it more then ever, help.?.?
I self-medicated for like five years with marijuana.. I left my friends and my dad to live with my mom across the country 1) to see her and 2) to clean up my act.. I've been clean off everything for this entire month, and it hasn't been easy.. I leave back for home in two days, and I can't stop thinking about lighting up, it seems so good right now.. I feel depressed, dull-minded, and anti-social.. I know that staying off pot is vital to getting a job, passing my driving exam, and enrolling / succeeding in school.. When I see my friends again, they're gonna be smoking and I have no idea what I'm gonna tell them.. I don't know if I want to smoke with them or if I should resist, and if they'll even understand.. I just feel so irritated with people all day, I need some kind of outlet.. What should I do.?Health Question & Answer

you worked so hard to get rid of the habit, I am proud of you, but you need to know that going back to it is not even an option.. Just remind yourself that you will not do it under any circumstance because it is absolutely Dumb.. At the same time there is no reason for you to suffer.. The reason you are craving it so much is because, you are demonstrating signs of sever depression.. I am not a doctor nor trying to play one, but I have a great deal of experience when it comes to depression and anxiety.. At this point in your life nothing should be important to you but to GET RID of your depression.. You say dull minded, that is one sign, which will prevent you from succedeing at school or any undertaking.. You say anti social, here is another one.. If you were to get your dream job today, I promise you will lose it soon because you symptoms will not allow you to function like you would under normal circumstances.. I can't emphesize enough that how important it is for you to see a medical doctor first and talk about your challenges, struggles and depression symptoms and if need be, a theropist can be helpful.. As far as your friends go, most likely you need to stop hanging with them for a while under any excuse you can come up with until you have your feelings and emotions under control and feel strong again.. You never know, when that happens either you become an inspiration for your friends to clean up their acts, or you start looking for new friends.. I will end with this advice, see your doctor make sure that your symptoms don't have medical reasons, like thiroid disfunction or being low on iron.. When medical reasons are ruled out, and doctor determined that you have depression, most likely will perscribe depression medication.. Go ahead and follow through with fighting the disease, like taking your meds, exercise, see your theropist but follow through.. Most likely, you will feel change in matter of three weeks and will like the new you, at the same time stay away from old friends and old ways and temptations.. As soon as you start feeling better, you'll even surprise yourself by the things you want to do and pursue.. Good Luck and don't give in Health Question & Answer

Weed isn't really bad, it's not really bad for you, or a gateway drug and it's not really addictive.. It seems like if it helps you feel better, you should do it, nothing wrong with it..

However, if you're being drug tested that could be a problem.. So you have to really ask yourself can you handle these bad times and come out better in the end or will you only self-destruct.? Do you really think weed will ruin everything.? or will it save you.?

Good luck with your decision, I hope everything works out for you..Health Question & Answer

its not crack.. i have to say, i felt like that when i quit crack for good.. it was bad......but obviously so.. your extreme addictiveness to marijuana is more likely due to your perception of marijuana being skewed by the mainstream news and media that will have you believe weed is a drug and highly addictive.. of course, it seems that must be paired with an addictive personality overall, so find a healthy addiction.. like reading, or art, or even window shopping..
whether you are truly this addicted or not the key is not to give in.. do not give in or you will have lost everything, it will do you know good and will make you feel worse afterwards.. find something that distracts you from thinking about smoking and whatever that is, as long as its not like shooting up or something, keep doing it.. just make sure that you are trying to stay busy and active and hopefully productive.. find new friends.. if you don't want to smoke you can't hang out with people who do.. take it from an addict and someone who has been around many addicts.. sure, you may be able to say no or ignore the smoking around you 10 times, but eventually you are going to be weak and give in and smoke..

staying off pot is not vital for anything, the only thing that makes pot a dangerous or negative drug is peoples perception of it......and honestly, if you have such a negative view of this "drug" then why ever do it in the first place.?Health Question & Answer

You were taking a mood altering chemical.. When you stop it then your brain's chemistry is out of whack and depression and the other feelings is part of that.. If you stay off the stuff then your brain will be normal again.. You'll start feeling better soon.. It is at this point when people crave the drug to stop the withdrawal..
You obviously are heading towards dependance.. You have managed to stop it and it's easier to keep the ball rolling.. You have goals and you understand the seriousness of the drug.. You are lucky-some live in a wasteland of denial..
The least of your problems is what to tell people.. Do not start up again and if your friends want you to join them-tell them the drug did a number on your head and you can't tolerate it.. If they insist-then they aren't looking out for your best interests.. Run don't walk away from them.. There are few things that are as dull as being around pot heads.. Health Question & Answer
