The only thing that ever soothes my [sore] throat is Ricola, the cherry honey flavor.. i've tried EVERYTHING in the book.... green tea, gargling with this and that, NONE of that worx, it's pretty much old wives' tales for me.. My throat really only bothers me when i wake up in the morning, that's the worst it gets every day.. So i was wondering how i could go about making a Ricola drink.? It's pretty annoying to constantly suck on a lozenge first thing when i wake up, & sumtimes when my throat is scratchy thruout the day.. A liquid form of this Ricola would be a LOT more convenient.. i need some advice other than just soaking some of the lozenges in a cup of water.. Like what else should i put in it.? Should i boil water or use a microwave to help the lozenges to dissolve.? How many lozenges.? How much water.? Pretty much i'm asking how can i do this.?

Two ways one could go about this.. Simplest is to put about 10-15 lozenges in two cups of water, bring to a boil and simmer until they are completely dissolved.. Keep a lid on but stir frequently to prevent scorching.. Not having done this, the first time will be an experiment.. The resulting tea will work best if you use only as much water as is absolutely necessary.. If your drink seems too weak, you can put it back on the stove at a low simmer to evaporate more water..
Or, one could make a tea using the ingredients in the product: Extracts of (elder, horehound, hyssop, lemon balm, linden flower, mallow, peppermint, sage, thyme & wild thyme).. Mix in Cherry concentrate (available at most health food stores) and a few drops of pure essential oil of peppermint.. Sweeten to taste with sugar..
BTW, Ricola does make an instant herb tea.. It is not available in the US, but you might look around the web to see if you can order it online.. Health Question & Answer
