Eat more foods rich in vitamin B3 (niacin) to heal and speed recovery of canker sores ie ~ fish, lean meats, whole wheat products, liver, wheat germ, eggs, the white meat of poultry, avocdadoees, dates, figs and prunes..

Vitamin B3 rich foods will help eliminate canker sores and more often than not bad breath too.. It will also give you healthier looking skin and help prevent and ease severity of headaches and migraines, reduce symptoms of diarrhea and increase circulation and reduce high blood pressure..

Vitamin B3 is necessary for a healthy nervous system and brain functioning and lack of it will generally also bring about negative personality changes..

Take a multi B complex tablet including all the B's ie: B1, B2 B3, B5, B6 and B12 as they work best synergistically (together).............. do not take any of the B complex of vitamins individually, but rather as a whole complex, unless specifically instructed to by a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath..

The B complex of vitamins is essential for healthy neural, digestive and immune system functioning..

If you are lactose intolerant or vegetarian then it is really important that you supplement your diet with a multi B complex tablet on a daily basis..

Things will rob you of your precious B complex of vitamins are :- stress, eating too much protein, alcohol, eating too much tinned food, laxatives and diuretics, antiobiotics, antidepressants, penicillin, prednisone and aspirin, otc cold and flu medicines..

also, try to cut back on drinks such as caffeine, tea, sodas and soft drinks as they are all B complex thieves................ as well as being great at dehydrating you..

Drink loads more fresh filtered water too as the healthiest and happiest body will always be the most hydrated one..

Is it possible that you have Coeliac disease .?.? It is an inability to digest the grains barley, oats, wheat and rye due to a sensitivity to gluten which is a compound found in those grains........Mouth ulcers and dermatitis around the corners of the mouth are common in Coeliac disease..

The gluten damages the cells lining the small intestine, and the mucosal surface becomes flat, losing the normal folds known as villi.. These damaged mucosal cells are unable to absorb nutrients from the food and severe nutritional deficiencies eventually occur..

Coeliac disease is often hereditary.. The disease can begin at any age and in children, it appears after weaning them onto gluten containing foods.. In adults it usually begins in the third and fourth decade, and its more common in females..

The symptoms are usually very gradual in onset and may start with only fatigue.. Common intestinal symptoms include abdominal discomfort, bloating, diarrhoea and weight loss.. There is difficulty in absorbing fat from the food.. This makes the bowel actions large, pale and fatty so that they tend to float on top of the water and are difficult to flush down the toilet..

take care of you

Avoid using any toothpaste with foaming ingredients such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, or anything that sounds like it.. Avoid Fluoride, and avoid mint - for reasons unknown, those things can aggravate canker sores in people who are prone to them..

There is a really easy way to see if avoiding those things will help you........
Try brushing with plain old table salt several times a day for a week and see if the number of sores is reduced..

Hi Kaitlyn.. Has your doctor tested you for Celiac Disease.? This is a very common condition, that unfortunately, is rarely diagnosed by medical doctors.. It is a COMMON cause of recurring Apthous Ulcers (canker sores).. It would be wise to have an immediate blood test to see if you may have this serious disorder..

Best wishes and good luck..Health Question & Answer

I assume you are comfortable with your Doctors assessment that they are indeed canker sores and not something else such as Sutton's Disease, Celiac Disease or herpes simplex..

If they are truly canker sores (acidic), sometimes the pain can be relieved by placing an antacid (such as rolaids or tums) directly on them and allowing it to dissolve..Health Question & Answer

Homeopathic remedies can ease the pain of canker sores, reduce inflammation, and help the tissues heal..

Arsenicum album: A person who breaks out in burning, painful mouth sores, and also feels anxious and tired, is likely to benefit from this remedy.. Hot drinks often ease the pain, and the person feels best when keeping warm.. They often have unhealthy, easily-bleeding gums, and tend to be extremely neat and tense.. Arsenicum album is recommended when the mouth is dry and burning, and the ulcers are soothed by warm water.. Restlessness and anxiety are felt.. Often caused by stress and worry..

Borax: This remedy is often helpful when canker sores feel hot and sensitive.. Sores may break out on the inside of the cheeks, on the gums, and on the tongue.. Produces profuse saliva, yet still feels dry inside the mouth.. Other indications are: sensitive to noise, suffers from motion sickness, bleeding ulcers when touched, and hot and tender mouth..

Calcarea carbonica: This remedy is often indicated for infants and small children who suffer from recurrent canker sores.. Other indications are: head-sweats during sleep, and slow to teethe or learn to walk.. May also canker sores in adults who are chilly, stout, and easily fatigued..

Hepar sulphuris calcareum: This remedy may be indicated when a person develops painful mouth sores that become infected-with pus formation, extreme sensitivity, and aggravation from cold drinks.. Often feels extremely chilly, vulnerable, and oversensitive..

Mercurius solubilis: This remedy is useful when bleeding gums, a swollen coated tongue, and offensive breath are seen along with canker sores.. The sores feel worse at night, and salivation is profuse, with drooling during sleep.. The person tends to sweat at night and is very sensitive to any change in temperature..

Natrum muriaticum: Pearly sores that erupt inside the mouth, especially on the gums or tongue, may respond to this remedy.. The mouth feels dry, and the tongue may have a tingling feeling.. Often troubled by cold sores around the corners of the mouth or chin, and have chapped or cracking lips.. A craving for salt, strong thirst, and a tendency to feel worse from being in the sun are other indications for Natrum muriaticum..

Nux vomica: A person who needs this remedy may break out in canker sores after overindulging in sweets, strong spicy foods, stimulants, or alcoholic beverages.. The person may have swollen gums, a coated tongue, and bloody salivation.. Irritability, impatience, and a general chilliness are often seen..

Sulphur: For sores that are painful, red and inflamed, with burning pain that is worse from warm drinks and aggravated by heat of any kind.. The mouth may have a bitter taste; the gums can be swollen and throbbing.. Reddish lips and mucous membranes, and a tendency toward itching and skin irritations are other indications..

Dosage: Follow the label directions.. Take one dose and wait for a response.. If improvement is seen, continue to wait and let the remedy work.. The frequency of dosage varies with the condition and the individual..

If no response is seen within a reasonable amount of time, select a different remedy..Health Question & Answer
