Ayurveda Question...?!

Question: Ayurveda Question....?
Does anyone know why pittas and kaphas aren't supposed to eat brown rice.? I thought white rice was basically nutrition-less. Should I avoid brown rice if I'm a pitta.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Interesting question. I do know that brown rice is recommended for the Vata dosha. That reminded me that foods for the Pitta dosha are specifically meant to reduce or balance the Pitta tendency to develop too much heat and too much fire. Therefore, I am inclined to conclude that brown rice must create too much heat, perhaps it has too much Pitta in it. My understanding of Ayurveda is that most of the time you should be using the foods recommended for your dosha. I myself am a combo Pitta/Vata and I do not have a good experience eating brown rice. I get very irritable and edgy from it. I have tried it many times because all the "experts" recommend it as being healthy since it is a whole grain. But every time, I have the same reaction. So I just avoid it. You might want to try it for yourself occasionally and if you feel the effect on your body is positive, then maybe it is okay to have occasionally.Health Question & Answer

Brown rice and white rice have similar amounts of calories, carbohydrates, fat and protein. Many types of brown rice however contain far more fat than white rice.

You need to consult an Ayurvedic doctor for more elaborate explanation.Health Question & Answer
