eilonwy82971 has given good convenional advice about the problem.
Skepdoc obviously has some very strong views about chiropractic. Depending on what is causing your scoliosis and how severe it is I don't necessarily agree Chiropractic can do nothing for you but most of the time it wouldn't be very helpful. I also have to agree exercise is very helpful.

No one has a spine completely without lateral curvature. In most people it is often pulled into misalignment by the musculature often from minor leg length discrepencies/ pelvic tortion or rotation through the upper body. a compensation patern causes the curve.

If this is less than 10 degree's it is thought to functionally make little appreciable difference.
As eilonwy82971 pointed out intervention occurs when the curve is greater than 25 or 30 degree's.

without spinal anomolies extreme scoliosis is uncommon. the kind of annomolies which can cause it are hemivertebrae, where the body of the vertebrae is only formed on one side and compression fractures.
idopathic scoliosis where one side of the vertebral bodies over develope causing a curve is a condition to more commonly affect girls and can become severe without monitoring and intervention.
These types are STRUCTURAL.

The less severe compensatory scoloisis is FUNCTIONAL and can be corrected to a limited degree with posture training, exercise and manual therapy.
Left without intervention the vertebrae can respond to the relative pressures and change shape thus the condition changes from FUNCTIONAL to STRUCTURAL which is much harder to correct.

See what your Chiro says ( some of them are very good) as he may be good at treating this but don't commit to anything or be afraid to take another opinion.
I hope this helpsHealth Question & Answer

You need to see a spine specialist, either neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon. I don't trust chiropractors. I had my back manipulated once or twice, it always hurt worse after they were done with it. As a nurse, I've also cared for a few patients who required surgery after seeing a chiropractor because the chiropractor actually caused nerve damage.

Treatment of scoliosis is based on the severity of the curve and the chances of the curve getting worse. Certain types of scoliosis have a greater chance of getting worse, so the type of scoliosis also helps to determine the proper treatment. There are three main categories of treatment: observation, bracing, and surgery.

If the curve is <25 degrees, no other treatment is needed. If the curve is 25-40 degrees, a brace may be recommended. If the curve is >40 degrees, then surgery may be recommended.
If the curve stays <40 degrees until you finish growing, it is not likely to get worse later in life. However, if the curve is >40 degrees, it is likely to continue to get worse by 1-2 degrees each year. If this is not prevented, you'd be at risk for heart or lung problems.Health Question & Answer

They are going to do nothing FOR you, though I'm sure they will do something TO you. WHY are you going to a chiropractor.? They can offer temporary relief of low back pain caused from muscles and tendons, but that's all. They don't actually do anything to the spine, even though that is what they claim (It's physically impossible to "adjust" the vertebrae..human beings just aren't that strong)

Scoliosis is a congenital condition where the spine curves in a side to side way, in a sort of S-curve. Most cases are fairly mild and are symptom free. Proper exercise, posture and a normal body weight will help
Braces for moderate cases
Severe cases may need surgical correction.Health Question & Answer

Chiropractic can help with a mild-moderate case of scoliosis. Keep in mind, chiropractors practice various techniques. Look for one that deals with spinal reconstruction - not just pain relief. It is much like orthodontics - it takes a while to retrain muscles and reposition bones. It took time to get the scoliosis and it will take time to fix the scoliosis.

Like any profession, there are good chiropractors and not so good chiropractors. Find a reputable one. Health Question & Answer

What they do is more like a massage and it eases the pain momentarilyHealth Question & Answer
