I ask this question because I went or a massage 2 days ago and my usual female masseuse was sick and the replacement was a male (approx 45-50yrs old). I didn't give it a second thought until I was on the massage table and halfway through the massage, then I started to feel uncomfortable. Not that he did anything wrong or inappropriate, the same as my usual masseuse.
I don't think of myself as conservative and it's totally messing with my mind that I might have some prudish tendencies.
Am I a prude for not wanting a male masseuse.?

It doesn't really matter who you have a masseuse, as long as you are comfortable with them. I work a local massage clinic, and there are some people who prefer males, and then some that prefer females. We try to accommodate all of this. Health Question & Answer
i always have female masseuses (im female) and never thought about getting one done by a male. one day i needed one badly and the only one available was male. i went and he ended up being one of the best iv had. it was a little awkward for me but i ended up really benefiting from it and would go to him againHealth Question & Answer
Yes it was prudish and next time when you have it done by male, just relax and enjoy without some unwelcome thoughts.

i used to be prudish about this too... but i found that the few massages i've gotten from male masseuses were among the best i've had, partly because they can usually exert stronger pressure on the muscles/ tissues and they have a more accurate sense of where to apply pressure. But to get the most from a massage, it's best to choose the masseuse you're most comfortable with so that you can let your body completely relax and get the full benefits. if i were a male masseuse i would understand why a female client would prefer a female therapist. it's probably no big deal.Health Question & Answer
I don't think you're a prude at all. Reality is that not everyone is used to physical contact like that with someone of the opposite sex, even if it's not done in a sexual manner.
