Home remedy for plantar fasciitis and heel spur?!

Question: Home remedy for plantar fasciitis and heel spur.?
Have you had surgery for a heel spur.?
My heel pain has been life changing; in a bad way.
An X-ray revealed a heel spur caused by (or caused.?) plantar fasciitis.
The podiatrist gave me shoe inserts to take the pressure off of the heel with high arch support. He also gave me a prescription for NSAIDS.
I want a cure!
Do you have a home treatment that rid you of your heel spur permanently.? What was it like.? What were the results.?
Thanks for answering!Health Question & Answer

If you have a bone spur you most likely will have to have it shaved off.

but if you do not have a spur and it is scar tissue you can treat it

I have suffered from plantar fascitis for years (recuring)
these are some of the things that have helped me
I went to physio and this is what they told me to do.

you have tendons on the bottom of your feet it is attached to the bottom of your heal bone when it shortens it can start to rip off of your heal bone and this will cause calcium buildup what we call a bone spur.

there are some things that you can do to help.

1) get wedge high heal sandals and shoes you want to make sure that they support your feet. make sure that they are no higher than 2 inches.
if one inch makes your feet feel better ware them.

make sure that you ware them any time you are on your feet even in the house.

this will stop your from tearing that tendon any more.

2) take an anti inflammatory your choice

3) stretching exercises use heat before hand to make sure that the tendons are soft. either use a heating pad or hot water bottle. use the heat for 10 to 15 min's
the stretching you want to do are as follows
A) while sitting on a chair bring your foot back so it is under the chair keeping your toes flat on the ground lift up your heal like you are taking a step make sure that you do not stretch too far (it should not hurt) hold for 15 sec's repeat 4 more times do this with both feet 3 times a day.

B) using a tennis ball or a soup can (on it's side)
put your foot on the can or ball in the arch of your foot again while sitting put some weight on it and roll it back and fourth. this will stretch out the tendon

use ice 15 min's after stretching it will help with the swelling

4) use ice the best way is to get some of those small paper cups fill half full with water and freeze them. when you use them peel back the paper and rub on area make sure to keep it moving so you do not hurt the skin.

5) keep your feet up. and try to stay off them as much as possible.

6) go to the pharmacy and buy arch suports they will help also buy heal spur pads the ones that have a spot in the middle of the heal that you can take out this will help to releave pain.

all of this will take months to make your pain to go away

7) if the above does not help you can go to your family doc and get an injection of cortazone in your heal.

8) if all else fails and the doc's do beleive that you do have a spur you will have to have it filed off.

9) to prevent this from happening in the future you will need to get good walking shoes ones that keep your heal slightly higher than the ball of your foot and have good arch suports.

Health Question & Answer

Bone spurs are actually a deficiency of calcium which causes the body to leach calcium from the bone. As the calcium is being leached, it forms an eruption. This eruption is the bone spur.

The bone spur can be dissolved by using 10-20 OsteoMatrix plus 30 Alfalfa Complex. This can take place within a few days.

My hairdresser used this solution and has had no problems since.

Hope this is helpful and feel free to contact me with questions.Health Question & Answer

I have plantars fasciitis and I understand how badly it sucks!

I would recommend taking advil because it really helps! I would also recommend getting some tennis balls or a rolling pin to roll your feet on in the morning when you wake up.

These are just home treatments and i'm sure your doctor can give you more.Health Question & Answer

There used to be a video out that was stretching exercises that help with heal spur pain. You may also try soaking your feet in epsom salt water as hot as you can stand the water.

You might be able to find a good surgeon who could scrape off the excess bone, but who's to say it won't come back, especially if you don't change whatever habits brought it on in the first place.

Vigorous massage is very helpful, on the painful areas, and all around the heel where the fascia attaches, and at the point in the center of the heel (extra point ShiMien), and all around the calcaneal tendon (Achilles' tendon), and any trigger points in the calf muscles. Most people cannot massage their feet vigorously enough -- it's too hard on your hands! So go spend $10 on a "Footsie Roller," a wooden thingy that's like a ridged rolling pin that really can get into the corners. You can sit or stand and put pressure on it, far more than your hands could ever do. A golf ball is OK, but it's hard to control, and doesn't have the same ability to get into a narrow spot.

You can also get a boot at a medical supply house for wearing at night that dorsiflexes the foot so the plantar fascia can't contract overnight (the reason the pain is usually the worst first thing on getting out of bed).

The shoe inserts will probably help the symptoms, as long as they're not too soft, and the heel is elevated. (may seem contradictory, as you might think soft and cushiony would be the way to go, but firm really is better) NSAIDS will help the pain also, but as you noted, do nothing for the cause. Similarly, a cortisone shot may take down the inflammation temporarily, but you can only get so many cortisone shots before your connective tissue starts melting.

Good luck. Be well.Health Question & Answer

Heel Spurs develop as an abnormal growth in the heel bone due to calcium deposits that form when the plantar fascia pulls away from the heel. This stretching of the plantar fascia is usually the result of over-pronation (flat feet), but people with unusually high arches (pes cavus) can also develop heel spurs.

Plantar Fasciitis is a very common injury that can persist for years unless treatment is properly addressed. Plantar Fasciitis is a common name used for an acute form of inflammation of the band of tissue running across the bottom of your foot

If you have a bone spur, my first suggestion is upping your cal-mag supplementation. 1,000 mg a day of calcium magnesium and a vitamin D to help you absorb the mineral. You want to increase your mineral intake, not decrease it. also eliminate all soda from your diet as it can leach minerals from your body.

Applying a combination of essential oils - lemongrass - 8 drops, wintergreen - 5 drops, and eucalyptus - 8 drops mixed in a carrier oil of either olive, almond, or apricot oil and applied to the heel followed by a red LED light for 10-20 minutes will stimulate healing and reduce the bone spur. Lemongrass and wintergreen together will help reduce the bone spur and start relieving the tendon. Eucalyptus will provide some pain relief. The LED light will quicken your body's natural ability to heal itself reducing inflammation and speed the tissure repair. The LED light will also help the essential oils' chemical constituents penetrate the skin barrier and work their way into the deeper tissues of your body. Apply three times per day.

an essential oil /epsom salt foot soak of the same may also help.

I would also highly recommend you start going to a foot reflexologist and an acupuncturist to help speed your healing. There are certain points on your body that will stimulate healing to your foot immediately. Here are the points to use. You apply pressure with your finger pad strong enough that you can tolerate it without too much pain.

K 6 - Located in a slight hollow just below the inner anklebone. Very easy to find, you will probably feel a pulse here.

B 62 - Located in the hollow just below the outer anklebone. [Like K6, it seems to be between two small parallel tendons. Beneficial for: heel pain, ankle pain, insomnia, and general foot pains.

GB 40 - Found in the large hollow just in front of the outer anklebone. [One of the easiest points to find. An excellent point to use for foot or ankle injuries in particular.

You can also rub those points with the essential oil blend I recommended.

For pain relief naturally, I'd recommend an herbal antiinflammatory as opposed to NSAIDs.

Best of luck. Health Question & Answer
