I've been eating raw garlic w/o washing it first. Is that bad?!

Question: I've been eating raw garlic w/o washing it first. Is that bad.?
Answers:
If you are the one peeling it -- don't worry.

If you are buying the jars / bags of already peeled,
- you are probably okay if it is organic

If it is not organic, I'd wash itHealth Question & Answer

I'd wash it if it wasn't organic garlic. It probably doesn't matter actually because it has a peel all over it that you discard (I assume you are not eating the peel, LOL.) But to be on the safe side you should wash all fruit and veggies you are eating raw, because of the Salmonella that's going aroundHealth Question & Answer

if you went to a busy grocery store, probably around 80 people have touched that garlic you ate, and most people don't wash their hands after wiping their *** in the bathroom, or picking their nose/sneezing, or whatever else people do with their hands. so, yeah, i guess it's bad that you didn't wash it.Health Question & Answer

I don't know what would possess you to eat raw garlic, but anyway, I'm sure once you start chewing it up, the garlic's antibacterial properties should deal with any nasties. Don't eat too much, or you may end up with halitosis.Health Question & Answer

Probably not, it is just normally a precautionary measure to wash it at your house. It is supposed to be washed at the supermarket/middleman. Health Question & Answer

I'm sure the smell is! :-/

P.s. But it's really good for your health, so good for you. Always wash it just to be safe.Health Question & Answer
