Natural alternate healing?!

Question: Natural alternate healing.?
have flu/cold symptoms, any natural remedies i should try.?Health Question & Answer

Avoid sugar and sweetened drinks like Gator-Aid. Sugar is a natural immune suppressant and will make it harder for your body to heal itself and fight the virus.

Add fresh garlic to your day. It is a great immune booster and will help your body fight this. also, drink plenty of fresh filtered water.

Grandma's chicken soup has been studied over and over and really is healing. Lots of ginger and garlic in it make it both tasty and a tremendous help when sick. Some of the studies actually point to a chemical in the chicken that help. Canned chicken soup isn't the same by the way.

Vit C is helpful, just space it through the day in smaller amounts, not one mega dose. You can also add some real Vit A in there (not beta carotene which the body needs to convert). Just keep the Vit A below the RDA and take twice a day.

The biggest help will be cutting out the sugar though. And, don't do artificial sweeteners as they will stress the kidneys and liver which are working overtime right now trying to make you well. You don't want to make their job tougher.

Health Question & Answer

The only natural thing you can do for your cold is to do nothing and let your body deal with it.

Nothing is going to change that. Therapeutic Vit C may have a negative effect, being a powerful antioxidant it will take up oxidative free radicals which are released by your immune system to help combat the infection.

Therapeutic vit C, echinacea, zinc have not been demonstrated to reduce cold symptoms or longevity, in fact one recent study has shown a slower recovery period in children given large doses of Vit C.

Your best bet is over the counter medicine such as antihistamines and paracetamol, as the most effective way to relieve the symptoms.

If you do nothing for a cold it will go away in 1-2 weeks. If you do take something, it will go away in 7-14 days. Sorry.

Try and get rest and maintain a healthy diet.

Health Question & Answer

Zinc can help boost your immune system. There are quite a few commercial cold remedies that contain zinc, or zinc+echinacea.

Remember though that the symptoms you experience with flu are partly your body trying to get rid of toxins. When you sneeze, when your nose runs, when you cough, when you have diarrhea, all these things are stuff (toxins) leaving your body.

Let it happen, and make sure you replenish the liquids and minerals with things like hot tea, chicken soup or vegetable broth, and plain old water. (Lemon water is good too.)

Cold and flu are caused by viruses. Many people want to take anti-biotics for cold and flu which is a bad thing. Anti-biotics work on bacteria, not viruses. Your best treatment is to do what your grandmother told you. Get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, and ride it out. Your body will heal itself better than any drug.Health Question & Answer

Take a whole pepper, prick it in a needle and show it in a candle flame. Pepper will burn and burst out giving white smoke . Inhale that smoke by lifting the needle to your stuffed nose.Repeat the process 4 times. You will sneeze and get great relief from cold.
