I am getting a massage. . .?!
Question: I am getting a massage. . ..?
I am going to get my first massage in a few weeks and was wondering if you typically tip the masseuse.? Health Question & Answer
Answers:
It depends on where you are going and how much you are paying for the massage. If you are going to a spa where massage therapists are employees then you should tip because they usually don't get paid much especially at places like Massage Envy or other franchises.
If you are going to an individual who has their own business and they charge a higher rate you shouldn't need to tip because they make a decent amount - but tip if you really like the massage.Health Question & Answer

I am in school to be a massage therapist in CT, and it is considered very rude not to tip. unless they do a slipshod job on you, I've known of cases where no tip has been given at all, and it was deserved, but if the massage was satisfactory, and it costs $60 (that is the average-low price around here) then $15- $25 is the average tipHealth Question & Answer
I always tip. They spent serious money (thousand$) and sat through quite a few classes just to get licensed. They are also providing a very personal service. Tip at least $20. An hour is a long time to what can be physical work.
If you go back, you want to be remembered in a positive light. Don't you.?
I does not matter who paid for it. They are not the one receiving the benefit.
I'm a bit old school. If someone can't afford the tip, then maybe they can't afford the service.Health Question & Answer

A tip is not only customary, it is a big part of the therapist's pay. 15-20% of the full price of the massage is the standard. Some days a therapist may only do 1 or 2 massages, the tips really matter.Health Question & Answer
Five bucks is usually considered enough - some people tip up to $20 if they did an extra good job or went overtime.
