Homemade Antibiotics?!

Question: Homemade Antibiotics.?
I am visiting my family (on another continent) next week. I will be staying for a month & last week I got a bad ear infection. I am still taking ear drops for it but now my throat is starting to hurt! I have about 5 days to rid myself of this cursed "bug". I only get to see my family once a year and I really don't want to be sick during this time.

I only have household items, salt pepper, black tea etc.
I don't have any special herbs or spices.

Any homemade antibiotics or remedies would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

Hi there...the most important thing you should increase your immune system and in my humble opinion, using natural remedies is the best thing as to avoid the bad side effect of standard conventional medicine. All kinds of fruits are great source for your body to increase immune system inside you, choose which have the highest antioxidants.

Second thing is that, I remembered that my aunt said, GINGER is the natural antibiotic! Make it as part of your meals (spices), or you can boil it with water, and have it as your healthy natural drink. I usually consume it with milk or tea, gives me more stamina & stay fit, especially if you combine it with original honey instead of sugar!Health Question & Answer

I would advise you to:

Stay properly hydrated

Eat adequate nutrients... variety, plenty of fresh vegetables (make sure you wash them thoroughly before eating), protein, fibre, whole carbs (wholemeal bread/pasta/brown rice), good fats, olive oil, oily fish etc. Avoid highly processed foods.

Use a saline nasal spray (from any chemist) in your nose, to cleanse your entire sinuses which connect your throat, nose, ears etc.

Gargle warm salt water.

Avoid getting water in your ears (from shower, swimming etc)

TEA TREE OIL for your ear would be very beneficial, so long as there is no pus or liquid coming from it, you can make ear infections worse by putting in drops when they are very very infected.

Today you can eat garlic, make a tea with lemon and honey, and gargle with warm salt water. Tomorrow go to the health food store and get a nose spray with colloidal silver in it, ear drops with mullein & garlic and some goldenseal root capsules. Go to the pharmacy and get some "Ear Planes" for wearing on the flight over. Might also want to advise the flight attendant you are have ear trouble so s/he can be ready to help if you need it.Health Question & Answer

You should gargle with warm salt water every few hours. Try to drink lots of water too and eat healthy, relax, and get alot of rest. Apple cider vinegar mixed with a little water, then gargled and swallowed to reach the back of the throut really will get rid of strep if there is any present, however you would need to use it almost full strength, and every hour or so. Heinz apple cider vinegar tastes the best. I've heard that a few drops of peroxide in the ear for a minute or two will help clear infection.Health Question & Answer

Sorry, there is no such thing as a homemade anti biotic. All you can do is take vitamins and eat healthy so that your body can fight off sickness. However, you should see a doctor and get a good anti biotic, because the main cause can sometimes linger then flare up later.

Hope you have a good trip!Health Question & Answer
