First, there are several forms of ginseng. I'm assuming you are referring to panax ginseng (Korean/Chinese) or American (Panax quinquefolius). Second: The standard dosage of these is in the 500-2000 mg range / day unless they have been extracted out: often to 10-30% active ingredients. The amounts you find in regular consumer drinks are pretty much miniscule trace quantities with absolutely no benefit. Go to any health food store and you should find either type in a nice dosage at a reasonable price. Hope this helps!

The only way to get a substantial dose of ginseng is to take it in extract form or in a formula that lists the milligrams contained. If you're talking about one of those energy drinks you buy at the supermarket, they're loaded with other stuff you probably don't want or need. Some natural foods stores carry teas with substantial quantities of ginseng listed on the label.

My Chinese son-in-law love the American Ginseng root I get for him at the health food store. (It's pricey & hard to find in China.) He just cuts off a chunk maybe 3/8" long and chews on it.
