Drying my own borage flowers to make tea?!

Question: Drying my own borage flowers to make tea.?
I have a borage plant so that I can make my own tea. Borage tea is really hard to get in Australia. The thing is that I am just a bit scared to dry it myself. I don't want to overdose on it. Has anyone ever dried their own borage flowers to make tea.? if so how do I do it and how much should I use for one cup of tea.?Health Question & Answer

When I looked through some of them, they indicate that it is the leaves of the plant that have harmful compounds. I have always heard that the flowers are safe for eating fresh. In general, you use about a teaspoon per cup of boiling water with making tisanes or herb tea.

I have taken a pharmocognosy class, which is making drugs from plants. I think that the flowers are fine, but you can check.

Remember it is the seeds that are mainly used medicinally for their oil and have the toxic compounds. The leaves have some too,but the flowers are OK.Health Question & Answer

I don't think you can overdose on Borage tea. I have had Borage plants and they don't have that many flowers. When they are just dried then there isn't much there afterwards. You could moisten then, cover them in sugar, and dry them that way. Then they are more substantial. Whatever way you dry them will be fine as long as its out of sunlight and high heat.
