What medicine should be taken if chidren eat mud, dust etc?!

Question: What medicine should be taken if chidren eat mud, dust etc.?
Answers:
This behaviour is quite normal in young children. It is due to their curiosity as well as the fact that you may be telling the child not to do it. Children like testing their boundaries when they know that a parent disapproves of something.

However, in children (and adults especially pregnant women) who are extremely deficient in iron and/or vitamin B12, this type of behaviour occurs for other reasons. It is called pica (medical term) when a person craves substances that are inedible.

Please remember that if your child is eating mud, dust, etc., it does not mean it is pica. It may just be normal behaviour as seen in children.

Try giving the child a vitamin syrup just in case he/she has any vitamin or mineral deficiency. You can also use two homeopathic remedies - Natrum muriaticum or Calcarea carbonica. Both are used for pica but for different reasons. Too long an explanation to get into here. But you will find information on the internet.

As a parent myself I had asked this question a long time ago and my grandma had recommended that I always have a bottle of Woods Peppermint Cure available. Somehow this very old remedy which is easily obtainable from any medical shop works like a neutralizer for all ailments. Or at least it has worked for my family especially as a first-aid until a doctor is consulted for any major ailment. Otherwise, a spoonful is sufficient to get over the fear of food-poisoning, indigestion or heart-burn.
It is somehow just comforting to know that we have something to rely on and I make sure to carry a bottle with me on all my travels.

No "medicine" is necessary, silly goose. We ALL eat "mud, dust etc." at every meal, especially if you eat any 'organic produce', and it does us no harm whatsoever...Health Question & Answer

depends on how "much" the children are eating....like a little won't bother them, but if they're eating handfuls thats not healthy.Health Question & Answer
