I have a problem, sometimes when I clean my ear with a q-tip it starts getting really tingly, itchy and pleasurable. I try soo hard not to give into this feeling but I can't help it and just start going to town with the q-tip. Sometimes my ears hurt after wards, and I feel bad but once I get caught up in that moment I can't seem to help it most times. Do you think I could be causing permanent damage.?Health Question & Answer

You are soooo not the only one...! I used to do that a lot too, it feels so itchily good...
Problem is, you *are* shoving some of the earwax back down the canal, and if you're really overly zealous you could be scratching up your ear canal.
It would help you more probably in the long run if you tried ear candling -- where you buy "ear candles" and the candles pull some of that earwax out more gently. Always do both ears the same day, otherwise sometimes yeast from one ear (yes, they do have a bit of yeast cells in there too!) can get into the other one and cause problems. And sometimes if you have a lot of earwax you might have to do the ear candling more than once....but damn you can usually hear quite noticeably better afterwards!
You can also go to the doctor's office and they do a similar thing, 'cept they shoot a strong burst of water into your ears. Its not as gentle as the ear candles, but it also gets the job done.Health Question & Answer

Stop using a Qtip in your ear. Not because it gives you pleasure but because what you are doing is shoving wax further into the ear canal instead of it being allowed to work its way out. also, you could go too far and damage your ear drum. Think of it this way. Remember the movies where the cannon is being loaded by the soldiers using a ram to cram the gun powder down into the barrel.? Well, that is what you are doing with your Qtip. I know what you're saying. Only it doesn't feel good on the very inside of my ear, there is a spot on my left ear right in the opening of my canal when I clean it with a q-tip that feels glorious. But like everyone else said, your ears are very sensitive so be careful! :)Health Question & Answer
