I believe its basic health care available to any and all people no matter what financial bracket they are in. Its paid for by our taxes and such. It can be wonderful because then those people that make too much for assisted insurance but too little to buy insurance can still get help and go to a dr if needed. But it can raise taxes a little. It doesn't pay for testing like MRIs, surgeries, CATs, and stuff like that. But many people need to go to the dr for a simple cold and a med but cant and that is why this would be a good thing for some. As far as salaries I dont think it will affect the medical profession, if anything they will make more as more or brake even as more people will be able to be seen by Drs since they have insurance, and since this insurance doesn't cover the cost of big testing and procedures they still make bank on those since those have to be paid out of pocket or a secondary insurance anyway. This is what I have found and what I have been told, could be wrong but there you go. Take care~

in reply to the poster below me, I have friends in the uk that said their testing wasnt covered, and its not equal across europe....canada is still a bit differentHealth Question & Answer

Socialized medicine is what just about every country in the world has except the USA. It means that health care is funded through taxes, not private insurance so is free for everyone. Fyibb08 is wrong about tests not being covered, usually all medically needed tests including MRI, CTscans and treatment including heart surgery, transplants etc are covered.

Positives: Everyone is healthy. Compare USA mortality and morbidity rates to those of the rest of the world, USA rates worse than many developing nations and poor nations like Cuba and Jamaica.Health Question & Answer
