Recommended Probiotics dosage?!

Question: Recommended Probiotics dosage.?
What is the safest/highest dosage of probiotics you can take per day.?

My friend is sick right now, she is on antibiotics for oral and vaginal thrush. I recommended she take probiotics, and she wants to know if you can/should take more than the bottle suggests.

Thanks in advance. :)Health Question & Answer

You don't need to take more than the bottle suggests ...... simply follow the instructions on the bottle and ensure ....that you leave a 4 hour gap between taking the antibiotics and taking the probiotics or the antibiotics will negate all the benefits of the probiotics.

Probiotics are helpful bacterium which produces the enzyme lactase which helps digest lactose, a milk sugar............take a supplement before your main meals as this will help with the digestive process by encouraging the growth of beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract, it will also help maintain optimal intestinal pH, which, in turn, helps with complete digestion...... probiotics will increase the absorption of minerals, such as calcium, magnesium and sometimes iron too..... they also produce some of the B vitamins, including biotin, niacin, folic acid, pantothenic acid, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6...... the B vitamins are essential for healthy neural, digestive and immune system functioning and are essential for effectively dealing with the everyday stress we are all exposed to at some level or another ....... when we are ill or stressed the B complex of vitamins are generally the first to be used up so supplement with a B complex containing all the B's as well ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and folic acid etc..... also take them 4 hours apart from the antibiotics.

The freeze ~ dried form of probiotics (powdered & necessary to refridgerate) is most stable and easily used by the body...... buy a dairy free variety to avoid any intolerances you may have.

?? no worries mate .... i really didn't think for one second it was you ........ that's what some people do hey ...... people are what they are... hey, have a good one luv.

hope this helps u

peace baby
?Health Question & Answer

You should only take up to 3 capsules a day. Your body must have a balance between all of the different types of intestinal flora and if you take too much probiotics you will upset your body's natural balance and get sick -- certainly not the result that you are hoping for to say the least.

You must leave at least 2 hours between taking antibiotics and probiotics and you should take the probiotics before or two hours after food as well. Health Question & Answer

I read somewhere that they did a test on how much people could take and people were fine with huge doses of it. Personally I take 10 billion (as in, 10 billion bacteria in 1 pill) or maybe two pills. I heard that enteric coated are best because they survive the acids in your stomach. Dunno if it's true or not... But the point is, she wouldn't die if she took too much. Worst case would probably be diarrhea. Health Question & Answer
