it's a twisted term of the afgan "chillum" which is a pottery cone used to smoke hashish . it is held between the fingers of both hands which are cupped(hoot owl style).the "cone" is sealed in the hands with a damp rag , inhale at the thumbs..so yeah it's a bowl...one of mans first portable bongs.Health Question & Answer
