I have chronic insomnia and have been on a lot of prescription sleep aids. They work for a couple of weeks, then stop, so they aren't really worth it. The natural ones don't work for me either though.
The best results I've had are from exercising heavily a couple of hours before I plan to sleep, then taking a long, hot bath. It doesn't always work, but it helps more than anything else I've tried.Health Question & Answer

I've been using Sleep Works from Sangsters. If I wake up in the night I am still tired enough to go back to sleep (which I couldn't do before I took it - I would be up for hours). In the morning I didn't feel dopey (like you do from over the counter drugs) and it also improved my frame of mind for the day and decreased my stress level.
I had tried Valerian Root before Sleep Works. VR barely touched me. Sleepy Time tea is also great. You can buy it practically anywhere. I make a cup with two of the extra strength bags. It really helps, but does make for some pretty bizarre dreams.
