Massage therapy as a career?!

Question: Massage therapy as a career.?
is it a good job.? Can one make a decent living at it.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Actually yes a person can make a very good living being a massage therapist. With the amount of people working out and going to the gym a good massage is escential to stay loose. I have a girlfriend who does very well for herself Its all word of mouth unless you open a shop but invest in a massage table and go door to door once word is out how good you are.

Depending on where you live, the training to be a licensed massage therapist can be long and expensive. Your success in business also depends on whether you live in a city or small town. In general, some massage therapists do well financially, while others do not.

The best way to make a career out of massage therapy is to work for a health club or some other health-orented business. Some therapists also work in tandem with physical therapists or MDs. That way, the fees that you charge might be covered by a client's insurance.

Working independently as a free-lance massage therapist can be difficult. Clients tend to come and go. I know of personal trainers and massage therapists who are making less money now because the economy is so bad.Health Question & Answer

Most massage therapists start their own business, but there are more job opportunities opening up. For the most part, jobs pay really poorly like $15-$25 an hour. You only get paid that when you have a client and get paid minimum wage when you don't. You have to do cleaning and other duties then. Most massage therapists can't really work more than 25 hours a week since it is so physically demanding so that makes it hard to make a living. That is why most people open up their own business.

And just like any other career - your success depends on you -not really on what career you have chosen. You can make a decent living if you want to make a decent living.

Health Question & Answer

Massage is not a career you choose to get rich. School is expensive, continuing ed is expensive and it takes a long time to build a clientele.
There is also a lot of wear on your body.Health Question & Answer
