Little boy with kidney stones? HELP!?!

Question: Little boy with kidney stones.? HELP!.?
My brother has hematuria, the doctors are being retarded and not giving him proper treatment. No matter how many doctors my mother takes him too, I can't help them much because I live across the country. I just want to get this taken care of because I know kidney stones that are neglected can turn into renal failure.

So far I've decided to give them a diet for no sugar, no white flour, no brown rice, no bananas, no oats, no grains, and low calcium. (She has already done the low calcium part for the past month, following doctors advice.)

Are there any herbal treatments for a five year old that are safe.? I've considered fennel and cummin in the food, it's supposed to help.

I know they drink a lot of bottled water so another concern of mine is lead.

Any one have any other ideas or suggestions, please.? Besides "go to the doctor" because the doctors (multiple btw) are not helping. Health Question & Answer

Hi Blah. Some of the advice from your doctors is ABSOLUTELY WRONG! A large number of scientific studies have shown that too little calcium CONTRIBUTES TO THE FORMATION OF KIDNEY STONES! Most kidney stones contain Calcium Oxalate. It is the amount of Oxalate in the urine NOT the amount of Calcium in the urine that drives the formation of most stones.

Appropriate prevention oriented treatment includes Calcium Supplements with meals. WHY.? Because the calcium binds to oxalate in the intestinal tract and helps to prevent the absorption of the oxalate (oxalate is found in many foods such as nuts, chocolate and green/leafy vegetables).

The key is to determine the CAUSE of your brother's stones. For example: kidney stones are common in patients with Celiac Disease and Celiac Disease is very common, but rarely diagnosed by medical doctors. Has your brother been tested for Celiac disease.?

Your brother needs to see an expert in kidney stones - a Nephrologist would be a good place to start. He also needs to see an expert in nutrition - a Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN), a Naturopathic Physician, or nutritionally oriented Chiropractor and/or that rare medical doctor trained in nutrition and/or "functional medicine" would be appropriate.

Here is a link to a good review article on preventing kidney stones published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal.

I was reading this mornings newspaper and there was an article about kidney stones in children. It stated that salt binds to calcium, creating greater cncentration of calcium in the urine and kidneys. You can try going to peoplespharmacy.com for a natural way of treating stones. You may ask your parents to take him to a teaching hospital and ask them to take a look at your brother. Good Luck. Health Question & Answer

Depending on their size kidney stones should pass on their own. Do you know what size the stone/s are.? Perhaps the doctors are expecting this to happen. Plenty of fluids will help. Hematuria is a sign that there are stones, but it also could be something else. Poor little guy, I hope he gets well soon.Health Question & Answer

Extra virgin light olive oil. A spoonful twice a day. Yes it's a bit gross to swallow, but it worked for me.

Limiting junk food and candy is a big help. As is dealing with any negative emotions behind this (as well as stress). In Chinese medicine, kidneys relate to anger.
