"What are the possible side effects of prednisone.?

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

problems with your vision;
swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath;
severe depression, unusual thoughts or behavior, seizure (convulsions);
bloody or tarry stools, coughing up blood;
pancreatitis (severe pain in your upper stomach spreading to your back, nausea and vomiting, fast heart rate);
low potassium (confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling); or
dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure).

Less serious side effects may include:

sleep problems (insomnia), mood changes;
acne, dry skin, thinning skin, bruising or discoloration;
slow wound healing;
increased sweating;
headache, dizziness, spinning sensation;
nausea, stomach pain, bloating; or
changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your arms, legs, face, neck, breasts, and waist).
This is not a complete list of side effects and others may occur. Tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effect."Health Question & Answer

long term use affects wt gain, causes adrenal shutdown and you need to taper off, I did it too early, and had vomiting and chest pains. I need it for other reasons. take too much, inc appetite, look puffy, cushionoid, can have skin problems, infections, bowel perf, if you take too much too long, it is necessary for your condition.
you can get diabetes, controlled with insulin, it will go away, you can get the buffalo hump on the back of your neck,it too will go away.
you suppress your immune system, more infections or poor wound healing and cataracts long term use, real long... others have sx before that. it can be a dangerous med if used incorrrectly and life saving if used right, it is not the same as anabolic steroids.....Health Question & Answer

Well, I would say one of the worst things happened to my step dad. He was on prednisone for some stupid reason and it weakened his ligaments so much that when he slipped on some ice, he popped his entire quadricep muscle on one leg... he was off his feet for over 6 months.
Then after he was back at work, he was lifting something (maybe 15-20 pounds) and his bicep popped out on that arm.

Yeah, I've been trying to talk him out of using it since he first started taking it, but "my doctor said I have to take it". Sheesh...Health Question & Answer

Besides all the other info supplied in other answer, please be aware that prednisone is a steroid (corticosteroid) and long-term usage can definitely lead to steroid-induced osteoporosis (weakening of the bones). You're higher risk if underweight and are calcium deficient. Talk to your doctor about this for sure.Health Question & Answer

Do you mean prednisone.? If that's it, I think the worst thing I experienced was the heart racing, feeling all irritated and "sped up" feeling. I was on it for Asthma and it really helped, but it made me feel like crap while I was on it.Health Question & Answer

its spelled prednisone

the reason for the usage outweighs the side effects
