It depends on the severity. If you have a prescription for 10 pills of Vicodin, and you decide to sell one to your buddy for $10, it really isn't a big deal. However, if you are a pharmacy tech, pharmacist, pharmaceutical sales rep, or someone else in a position of trust with repeated access to them, and you decide to supplement your income by selling them "under the table", I'm pretty sure that would be a felony with jail time. Either way, you'd get in trouble, but you'd be in a lot more trouble if your intent was to continue selling, rather than a one time thing. The charges can keep piling up if you distribute the drugs across state lines, etc. This is all assuming that the people buying the drugs don't have an adverse event as a result of the drugs. Look at the prescription bottle. Depending on the drug, it can be a Federal crime for illegal distribution. Not a smart move.Health Question & Answer
