Answers:
The pain is minimal as is the discomfort. How bad the experience is for you is based mainly on how panicked you are going to be going into this. The side effects are also very mild, if any at all. The worst you will feel from it is as though you were 'coming down with something'. This is the sensation of your immune system kicking into high gear in order to combat the invader and produce antibodies to it. It is totally normal. You are not 'getting a case of the disease', not even a 'mild case' as the vaccine in question does not use live organisms, only key antigens from it.

The best method to defeat the pain is to not be worried about it. It'll sting for a second or two and then it'll be all better. The needle will be thin, but long enough to enter muscle tissue. You would be unable to tell the difference between a shorter needle and the longer one if you were blindfolded.

There is NOTHING to worry about. You'll be okay. Just relax and know that this is not going to hurt very much or for hardly any length of time. You should be far more panicked about the possiblity of stubbing your toe. This will hurt SO much less than that, that in comparison, stubbing your toe will looking like having your leg gnawed off by a bear in slow motion. :)Health Question & Answer
