My Ottoman history professor told me that they had medical marijuana in the Ottoman world. You could possess it with a prescription.
also, marijuana was used as a medicine early in the 20th century. There are tinctures and other concoctions that have marijuana in them that were made by mainstream pharmaceutical industries. One of the uses for it was to help people get off of drinking.
They showed them on a public access program called "Cannabis Common Sense."
I'm sure that if you do some research you could probably find photos of the bottles that actually advertise marijuana clearly. I think it was an over the counter drug. The bottles also said what the pot was good for. This was before marijuana was supposedly outlawed (with the marijuana tax stamp act). This act did NOT make marijuana illegal per se, rather, it made it illegal to possess or sell without a tax stamp. The problem was that the government did not issue any tax stamps. So the mainstream companies that made these products had to quit making them.
So it is clear that up until marijuana was demonized and made practically illegal, it was clearly a medicine and not just a recreational drug.Health Question & Answer

Who cares what people *think* is good or bad for them... what people think they need is very different from what they need. Pro's and Con's theres pros and cons to every medicine research this drug like any other one you would. The only thing thats different is there is much ignorance on this topic.
