Question: The herb called Agnus Castus! Does it help females hormones.?
before that time of the month.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Yeah I feel your pain, I am the same, although I have avoided taking anti-depressants and am unable to take the contraceptive pill.

I have recently started using Agnus Castus (tincture) twice daily and have noticed a difference this month.

I also take (on prescription) high doese of Pyridoxine (B Vit) and Evening primrose oil (GLA) - these are very high doses not available over the counter.Health Question & Answer

Yes, Chasteberry (also called Agnus Castus or Vitex) is very good for PMS and many "monthly issues" and I know several people who have personally tried it and gotten a lot of benefits from it. There are also several other natural products that help with hormones and PMS like Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Wild Yam, Damiana Leaf, Motherwort, GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid, commonly in Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil), and some Soy germ products.
To be on the safe side, I would check with a doctor or pharmacist to make sure it's safe to take any of those you would like to take with your prescriptions. Either way, those are all very beneficial for many different things that revolve around women's monthly cycles.
Good luck and I hope I helped!Health Question & Answer

The name 'Agnus Castus' derives from the Greek for 'chaste'. According to Pliny, writing in the first century, Greek women wishing to preserve their chastity placed leaves of this plant on their beds and slept on them. Pliny's contemporary, Dioscorides, claimed that Agnus Castus preserved chastity because it smells so bad that, when strewn on the bed, it was enough to deter amorous advances from men!Health Question & Answer
