Answers:
What type of cancer.? There are more than 200 types.

ACS (American Cancer Society) data indicate that 1 in 2 men will develop some type of cancer in their lifetimes while 1 in 3 women will develop cancer at some point. You have this same risk that we all have.

Most families have someone who has developed one of the 200 plus types of cancer - very different diseases that we lump under he general term "cancer."

Of course you share some characteristics of your older family members. There are a small number of cancer types that have some element of hereditary tendency, but most cancers are acquired rather than genetic.

Bottom line - your risk of cancer is likely to be the same as anyone else whether some older family members have had cancers or not.
