i know that my mom receive staph from a needle in the hospital. She had to undergo a lot of physical therapy. Staph isn't deadly unless it's not taken care of. That bruise is just probably your tissues healing. If you're really concerned you should ask your doctor.Health Question & Answer

Staph cellulitis usually begins as a small area of tenderness, swelling, and redness. Sometimes it begins with an open sore. Other times, there is no break in the skin at all -- and it's anyone's guess where the bacteria came from.

The signs of cellulitis are those of any inflammation -- redness, warmth, swelling, and pain. Any skin sore or ulcer that has these signs may be developing cellulitis. If the staph infection spreads, the person may develop a fever, sometimes with chills and sweats, as well as swelling in the area.

There's another treatment sometimes used with staph infections. If the infection goes so deep that it involves muscles or fibers that enclose muscles, it needs to be surgically cleaned.Health Question & Answer

You should absolutely contact your doctor immediately as there are so many strains of staph and I dont know which strain you have. Call ASAP and if you arent comfortable with the doctors explanation, ask to be reffered to an infectios disease physician. I received my staph after an arm surgery in which i had lots of hardware put in the arm and staph loves hardware aka plates, screws, etc and I am still on oral meds to this day and I had my surgery 8 months ago. I did my cycle with my picc line for 7 weeks at home first with nursing staff coming weekly for blood work and picc line dressing change. also, when my hardware was removed, my bone was was throroughtly scraped and cleaned but now I have to have more surgery in April on the arm to put my hardware back in. I have had 18 surgeries since 2002 all related to bones and was the first time i did get a staph.

So like i said...call asap and glHealth Question & Answer
