Inflammation of the chest wall?!
Question: Inflammation of the chest wall.?
About 6 years ago I was "diagnosed" with inflammation of the chest wall by a heart specialist. I was told that I would grow out of it and to dull the pain to take an anti-inflammatory. Well, 6 years later....and I'm still hurting.
Any thoughts on what else might be wrong.?
Background: Family history of heart related issues. I'm a 23 year old female with no major health problems.
The pains are random and can last briefly to several hours. It irregularly alternates between a sharp pain to a dull ache. I'm not insured so going to the doctor isn't really an option for me.

Answers:
Well, inflammation of the chest wall is a bit vague. The chest is a rather large area, so I'm not sure exactly what are you're talking about here.
The most likely culprit is costochondritis which is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the breasbone. It sometimes is something of a chronic condition, but others is a one time deal. I believe Wikipedia has an article on it.
