Answers:
A urinary tract infection is not the same as an STD. Its just a standard infection, most of the time you don't catch them from anyone else. It is possible to infect your partner though so when one person has a UTI both people should look for symptoms. It is NOT an std though.

Women get them a lot after sex but the bacteria that causes them isn't necessarily from the guy- everyone has those germs on their body already. Its just that sex (the in/out movement and pressure) pushes the bacteria back up into the womans urethra when they should be moving down and out of her body.

The stuff on his penis was probably unrelated to anyones urinary tract infection or hand lotion use. It was probably the lubricating fluid/cervical mucus from the woman. Most of the time that is thinner but if the woman is ovulating its thicker and more noticeably 'chunky', or if she has something like a yeast infection that can cause that too. Both people need to make sure they are clean though before having sex (the guy needs to wash himself after using lotion duh) because you want to get rid of any extra germs, they can make it more likely one/both of you will get a UTI. Here's a little more info on urinary tract infections.

Urinary Tract Infections are NOT sexually transmitted. In fact, it is very hard for a man to even get one. What happens it that bacteria gets into the woman's urethra (the tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body) and causes the infection. The lotion used could have caused it, the man touching her with out washing his hands could have given it to her and many more reasons. Women need to go to the bathroom as soon as intercourse is done to help clean out any bacteria that may have gotten into the urethra. A woman's urethra is only about an inch long so that is why she is more prone to getting them. I don't know where you got your information about a man being able to give a UTI to a woman, but I assure you, you were misinformed.Health Question & Answer

there are other ways of getting UTI's not from just sex. You can get them from stress, or from holding your pee too long.Health Question & Answer
