Does a biopsy request always mean cancer?!

Question: Does a biopsy request always mean cancer.?
My dad saw his regular dentist last week who took a brush sample from his gum. He called this morning and wants him to have a biopsy done with an oral surgeon. Does this automatically mean that he has cancer.? Could this be a non-cancerous spot.?Health Question & Answer

The dentist wants to be certain it is not so yes, it could be benign. It is good that he has a thorough dentist who wants to detect a problem ASAP. Good LuckHealth Question & Answer

A biopsy requires that a piece of tissue be removed and sent to a lab. It is then determined whether it is cancerous or benign (not cancerous) and will let you all know what's going on.Health Question & Answer

A biopsy is a medical procedure to check if a tumor is benign or malignant. You won't know if he has cancer or not until the result comes in.Health Question & Answer
