WHY IF PEOPLE HAVE A PROBLEM, DO THEY SCRATCH THEIR HEADS OR RUB THEIR CHINS. ?!

Question: WHY IF PEOPLE HAVE A PROBLEM, DO THEY SCRATCH THEIR HEADS OR RUB THEIR CHINS. .?
I do it myself, as do many of my friends when I ask them the same question.
also, If you rub your ear, or scratch your scrotum, it is like a mirror image!
Does it go back to the monkeys or what..?

I gave you a star. I'm scratching my head over this question because I've been researching the answer and can't find one. The conclusion I came up with is that I've mainly seen this in old movies and cartoons and old drawings.
I would assume it came from old silent movies where you had to act out everything and perhaps the actors had seen simians do this. The reason simians do it is because they have lice/fleas. When you watch a monkey or chimp they do it unconsciously whilst staring or looking at something else.
I did however find out that early humans were more hirsute and had body lice and scratched. So I therefore believe it had to do with evolution and it's an inborn trait just as dogs need to turn around several times before lying down.Health Question & Answer

I don't really know. It might have something to do with comforting. I personally always wear a watch and when I am confused or nervous I rub the watch face. I don't know why. It helps sometimes. Just a natural reaction I guess... Health Question & Answer
