It is scary thinking about it because of the thought of going in your throat. I had one done a year ago, and want to share the steps with you. They will sedate you after they numb your throat with spray. That is all I remembered until I came to in recovery. I had no complications at all. I had an endoscope done with only a local (freezing of the throat). It wasn't pleasant at all. I have a very narrow throat passage ended up gagging and spitting up blood. If I had to go through this again I'd get them to knock me out.

not really, the sedation they use wears off very quickly. You might wake up with a bit of a sore throat, but that is all. Just relax, you will be fine.Health Question & Answer
