Question: What happens when you have an over or under active thyroid.?
I don't know if i'm being a hypocondriac but i sometimes feel i have issues with my thyoid. I'm a guy and i am majorly underweight.. despite eating a lot of decent food and going to the gym.
I also have difficulty concentrating sometimes and can just get really tired.?.?

some people are naturally slim.
An overactive thyroid would give more symptoms than you have, like nervous tremors, frequent bowel movements or diarrhoea, poor sleep, palpitations... - ...again stress and worry can give most of the above too.
An under active thyroid leads to feeling sleepy, feeling the cold easily, sore muscles, slow movements, hoarse croaky voice, weight gain and more...
You are probably worrying over nothing, you don't give your age or say if there is stress in your life, or you are studying hard.
See your doc if you are really concerned and put your mind at rest.

It could be - overactive more likely if you are underweight. Other symptoms are palpitations, tremors, weak muscles, nervousness, insomnia, breathlessness, and overheating. If you had an underacive thyroid you would be more likely to put on weight.Health Question & Answer
