I believe that the cure for obesity is a major economic depression, who agrees? ?!

Question: I believe that the cure for obesity is a major economic depression, who agrees.? .?
If few can afford the rubbish food currently eaten then we will all be healthier as a result. I am of course only suggesting a two-three year depression rather than a decade. Health Question & Answer

Hmmm, this is an interesting theory. Unfortunately it can't be true. Let's look to the drought-stricken and famine devastated parts of Africa. The malnourished can also be bloated and obese from eating the wrong foods. Even after you account for worms and disease.

In the US the cheaper foods are the ones with the hormones and preservatives. Those have little nutritional value but are high in calories and last longer, both on the shelf and in the body.

Though, I guess, if you don't eat at all, you'll loose lots of weight.
Health Question & Answer

No this wouldn't be the case. As others have already mentioned "rubbish food" is cheaper than healthy food. Many people think just because a person is obese that they eat either a lot of food or they are constantly eating "rubbish food". This isnt always true. A person could be obese from different things besides just eating unhealthy foods. One example would be somebody who has an underactive thyroid problem and can't afford the medicine. In this day and age I really dont think there is a "cure" for obesity, it will never go away completely. Health Question & Answer

Tyler is right the multinational companies that own fast food chains are not idiots they have priced themselves under healthier options. To beat obesity we need to shut down fast food chains or force them to only have healthy food but i can't see any politician in any country doing that so i guess we just keep getting fatter unless we can teach our kids to not go or only go once in a while.Health Question & Answer

No, "rubbish food" is cheap. The good stuff is expensive.

EDIT: Oh, so your question is, would starving people lose weight.? Better keep the depression going, otherwise once it is over, people will go back to similar habits as before... maybe even want to eat more food knowing what it is like to be deprived of it. Starving doesn't cure obesity, OR make you healthy.Health Question & Answer

obesity dosnt need a cure.it is just a sign of good economic conditions.
if you want to be round why not.? its your body.

Funnly enough if there was an economic depression and food became scarce all the fat people would be thin, and all the people who are thin now, would be dead.

Perhaps being thin at the moment, in these uncertain economic times is rather bad for your future health.......

Being depressed actually makes you want to comfort eat much more. I think the cure to obesity to to actually exercise and burn all the extra energy off. Health Question & Answer

You think the answer is to starve them.? It really seems that these days it's much more expensive to buy better quality healthy food. Maybe they should just sell fast food for alot more money and health food for less. Hmm.?Health Question & Answer

Thats ridiculous.

I so dont agree. A depression.?.? Hun, theres absolutely nothing wrong with being obese. Its actually possible to be obese and healthy.Health Question & Answer

I strongly disagree as obese people are often found in areas of poverty. They tend to eat cheaper foods which are very fattening.

And, if people have more time on their hands in which they're idle, they'll tend to eat more.Health Question & Answer

I don't think so. You can get a happy meal for a lower price than a half dozen apples where I come from.Health Question & Answer

Hmmm, interesting concept. I may use it in a school paper lol
