Yes, it is not fun! See a sleep specialist. You will go through a sleep study to determine why you are not sleeping, and the doctor will give you the proper medication. Don't take over-the-counter sleep remedies. They are only temporary and treat the symptoms, not the cause. So, see a sleep doctor, and you will find how to have a really nice sleep. If you are talking an occasional night or two.. Advil PM works great warm milk..Eating Proteins like turkey will also help

If you are sleeping but have bouts of insomnia more that 2 days a week you should talk to your doctor about a SCRIPT for Ambien or the like

Yes I've had insomnia and it sucks. I've used pills (no good, they work but then once you stop them its back), alcohol and lots of other things that didn't work. The best advice I have is to live a healthy life. If you exercise each day it helps. also I can't drink caffeine after 12pm or it affects me. On nights when I have trouble I do yoga and then sit some herbal tea for sleep. I also read a fiction novel at night to get my mind off problems. you could try the Australian Bush Flower Essences Emergency Essence 7 drops of dosage strength in water bottle, shake and sip till you fall asleep. IF you have a busy mind then the Australian Bush Flower Essences Calm & Clear Essence would be better and the same 7 drops in water etc.

i used to suffer from it the only thing that helped me was sleeping next to someone, but i know for some people falling asleep to the t.v. on helps them and even cuddling with a pillow may help. that one sounds silly but some time it can feel like a physical presenceHealth Question & Answer

I have used Melatonin as a natural sleep agent.
It has given me nothing in the way side effects.
I will normally take a pill about 30 minutes before I plan to go to sleep.
