Question: Would it be a bad idea if I took 2 tablets of FeroSul (Ferrous Sulfate) iron pills a day instead of one.?
325mg (5gr) of Ferrous Sulfate provides 65mg of elemental iron per tablet...My hemoglobin was at 9.4 and it need to be around 13-14 but I started my period and now I'm losing more blood...so I was wondering if taking an extra pill a day can be harmful...Thank-youHealth Question & Answer

But your body wont use all of it. It doesnt need a lot so youll just end up peeing most of it out.
But if you think it will help then go ahead.
But it wont harm you so you dont have to worry but make sure not take more than two and maybe not at the same time!
You can always call the pharmacy too to double check!
And if you can always eat more foods containing iron such as raisins, beans, beef, turkey, ect.

It probably isn't a good idea, without getting your doctor's advice. Since you are anemic, it might be OK, but if you get too much iron, you can get iron poisoning. You probably should ask your doc first if it is OK to take extra when you are on your period. The amount of blood most people lose during their periods is not usually a very large amt. anyways.Health Question & Answer
