She needs lots of rest. There is no specific treatment for glandular fever, also known as infectious mononucleosis, and caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. Antibiotics are not helpful, as this is a virus infection. In fact there is one antibiotic, ampicillin, which is more likely to cause a rash if given to people with glandular fever. She may need pain medication or anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen. Hot drinks can help relieve the sore throat. She should drink plenty of fluids.

Aw poor girl, I had it about 4 years ago I was also transferred to a hospital (only for 2 days). Its really important to keep drinking fluids, I was dehydrated and needed a drip. Take paracetamol and lots of rest, try and keep her spirits up, just having some company will make her feel better. Maybe try some homeopathic medicines.Health Question & Answer
