Question: Does anyone know about ringing in the ears.?
I have been in bands, and now I have terrible ringing in the ears. Does anyone know a cure.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I have ringing in the ears out of the blue from time to time. It can last for several days and will be as loud as the sounds from other sources.
It was not caused by being around loud machinery or bands.

I know of a symphony musician whose ringing gets louder as the music gets louder. He intends to retire early.

The first thing you should do is to get a check-up. You can go to an ear, nose, and throat specialist who dispenses hearing aids. He and his staff can determine if you have a hearing loss and if anything else is causing the ringing. In fact, you might want to have a regular physical first.

Well from my experience it goes away in time, definitely wear earplugs in loud areas.

Every time you're ears ring they have been permanently damaged. The ringing in your ears is the last time you will ever hear that frequency! That's why many old people, especially those that were in WWII, are nearly deaf.

So to sum up, if you want to be able to hear later in life USE EARPLUGS!Health Question & Answer

There is no cure. Tinnitus is there for life. I have it and it sucks. You just have to learn to deal with it. Try and keep background noise on, really low. If I keep the tv on low I can't hear the ringing. Any type of white noise will work. At night I have a fan on since that's when it's the worst. That will drown out the humming or ringing in your ears. You may want to get checked out to make sure you don't have any damage or hearing loss. Health Question & Answer

Go get your hearing checked!!!! My ears used to ring all the time and I was told it was ear infections, but i've never had ear infections!!!

My ears still ring, but know i have close to total hearing loss in both ears. I grew up with being able to hear and they really can't find any explanation as to why i've lost my hearing. I'm 48 and lost my hearing at 46. It's a drag. A real drag.. For everyone, those who have to yell at you and repeat what they say coz you didn't hear them in the first place, and you because things will never sound the same. Not music, not voices,, everything changes. Please, please get your hearing checked. It worth saving your ears.
