Why do some people have reactions to shots?!

Question: Why do some people have reactions to shots.?
i'm in grade 9 and today we got shots, i got a tetanus shot and a HPV shot. of course i was nervous but i wasn't that scared. a few seconds after i got my tetanus shot i started feel light headed, they made put my head down to get blood to my head and they gave me juice, then my hearing went all out of tune and they brought me to this mat on the floor, and when i was walking over my sight went all weird, i don't really know how to explain it, i couldn't focus. I also got really hot and started to sweat so they gave me an icepack and put it on my back and neck. then after a couple of minutes i felt fine and i got my HPV shot and i felt fine after that. Only a couple of people in my class had this type of reaction, and one girl fainted. No guys had a reaction like this. So i was just wondering why some people react this why and others don't and why the guys didn't react this way. Health Question & Answer

The reaction you describe sounds like a stress reaction, so you were more nervous than you thought you were. An when the first symptom happened you got even more stressed which caused the other symptoms. And once one person had a nervous reaction it made other people nervous which caused -them- to get more nervous. So, it wasn't something in the vaccine that caused it but getting nervous about it. The guys may have been good at covering up their reactions, or they are heart-hearted unfeeling whatzits who don't reacted to anything emotionally. Health Question & Answer
