How do I do about the gash on my leg?!

Question: How do I do about the gash on my leg.?
I was being chased through the woods one night and I ran into a metal cable across the road. I was cut pretty bad and it would have been deeper if there was more flesh on my shin and it the shin didn't get in the way. So, I went to the doctor after it didn't heal much in two weeks and he gave me antibiotics for it. A week later it still wasn't healed much so I went back and he gave me more antibiotics for another week and tested the wound, but I didn't go back for even another week, and so when I did go back, he gave me different antibiotics to take for another 3 weeks and said the tests were good and nothing was wrong. It's now been around 2 and 1/2 months since I got the simple cut, and it still hasn't fully healed. It hurts to touch, and I'm afraid that my doctor is wrong about something. I mean, Doctors go through lots and lots of patients every day. So, their minds aren't entirely focused around what's exactly wrong. They just ask some questions and then guess or assume what's wrong. But maybe I'm wrong. Oh well, something must be wrong though, because my leg won't heal
(the cut was about 1/2 inch the deepest and about 5 inches long and 3 inches wide. Plus, they already gave me a tetnis shot)Health Question & Answer

"I was being chased thru the woods" sounds wayyy creepy.

I'm gonna get crap for this, but go to the emergency room if your not getting results from your doc. They (ER) don't want to see you back --where your doc. does for his per visit money. The ER will either give you the right antibiotic and/or stitch you up. ER's hate repeat customers!!Health Question & Answer

sometimes doctors could be wrong as they don't know for sure which antibiotics-meds will be better for you.each person reacts differently.if i were you i would go to a different doctor just to be sure and i'd tell him everything i've done..it should have healed be now even though you will still have a scar, but there might be an infection which is being treated with the wrong antibiotics...
by the way what do you mean ' i was being chased through the woods' it sounds creepyHealth Question & Answer

G'day Surge,
It might be a good idea to get a second opinion.
Wounds require certain conditions for healing to occur (described here http://www.australianprescriber.com/maga...
If these conditions are not present, complications and poor healing will occur eg: scaring, infection, necrosis, non union etc
Has your doctor debrided neuropathic tissue (cut out dead tissue).? Were stitches or steristrips considered.? What dressing are you using.? Is there a sufficiently moist, clean, protective environment environment.?
