Hi Mrs truth,

Great News !

You have been for an Electro Cardio Gram which is what physicians use to check your general heart health.

The gel is used to allow the electrical signals from the sensors to be accurately transmitted to the computer because your skin is not always a reliable conductor of electricity.

A typical manufacturer is Weaver & Co. and it is marketed under the name 'Nu Prep'.

You should not be worried about leaving this product on your skin. It is classified as a stable and non-reactive substance. The only warning about the product is to avoid using it on broken skin.

So, relax and enjoy a nice cup of tea (or maybe a small glass of red wine - very good for your heart health) knowing you have no worries about ECG gel :-)

Best wishes,

Malcolm.

Health Question & Answer

Not at all--people in hospitals have them on for weeks. It is usually a type of salt solution (an electrolyte) to enhance conduction.Health Question & Answer
